As part of our mission, we encourage you to engage in groups that help deepen your faith and strengthen your understanding of how to become living proof of God's love. That's why we call them "Prepare" groups; they help prepare you along your journey of faith.

Prepare—pursuing a deeper understanding of God’s love

In groups of 2 or more, we explore God’s Word, asking questions that challenge and change us, so we can live as God’s people in God’s world. Our desire is to provide opportunities so that everyone who is a part of Christ Church can be a part of a Prepare Group, no matter how old they are or where they are on their journey of faith.

Adult Prepare groups are offered on Sunday mornings and also throughout the week. Explore the group opportunities below. If you have additional questions, contact:

Seasonal Focus - Summer Seminars 2013

Bill Higgs presents The Five Solas - July 17, 24, and 31 at 7 pm

Bill Higgs will lead our summer seminar on “The Five Solas.”  The word “sola” means alone or solely. The five Solas are Latin phrases that emerged during the Protestant reformation, and they represent what these reformers believed to be essentials of the Christian life and practice.  Join us at 7:00 pm in Room 158 as Bill leads us in this discussion, and challenges us to grapple with our own understanding of these Christian concepts.

Sola Fide - Faith Alone
We do not “do our part” through good works to add on to the part Christ has done for salvation, nor do we earn God’s favor by good works. We are justified by faith and live by faith alone.

Sola Scriptura -Scripture Alone
The Bible contains all knowledge necessary for salvation and holiness.  We are to trust it to teach us about God and what God wants of us.

Solo Christo - Christ Alone
By the work of Christ alone we are saved.

Sola Gratia - Grace Alone
Whatever faith we may exercise and good we may do is by the grace of God, who loves us not because of what we have done, but out of his own free will.

Soli Deo Gloria - Glory to God Alone
We and all creation exist for the purpose of glorifying God, who is working all things out for his glory.
