One of my rocks over the past few weeks has been Romans 8:28...
And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. 29 For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters.
During this crazy time, I have come to believe that God is teaching me something...something for my good...something that will help shape me to the image of Jesus. God is teaching me about how to be joyful in times of trial (James 1:2-4) and how to delight in my own weakness (2 Cor 12:9). No wonder the world thinks we Christians are weird! What is God teaching you?
I recently read where if you do not have an answer to that question, then there may not be much going on in your relationship with God. It could be at best, stagnant; and at worst, in reverse! God is always trying to teach us and shape us to be more like Christ. And if we are not perceiving it, then we may be working against Him!
I am discovering that this question, “What Is God Teaching You,” is one of the more powerful discipleship questions that we can ask of each other. Having a trusted small group or discipler in our life to ask this question and walk with us as we wrestle with the answer, is one of the greatest gifts we could have on our spiritual path to enjoy the Kingdom life.
Despite our circumstances, God is trying to teach you and me something. The mere fact of asking that question of one another will help bring peace into our circumstances. So, if you are struggling with our COVID-19 Captivity, ask yourself, "What is God teaching you?"
