Finding Hope, Bringing Hope
Understanding Anxiety, Depression and Mental Illness
Sundays February 11, 18 and 25, 2018 6 to 7:30 pm Fellowship Hall
This series will offer attendees an increased awareness of mental health issues that affect us all...ourselves, our family, our fellow church goers, people in our workplace or school and people in our community. Becoming more aware can guide us as we care for ourselves and as we interact with others, moving our thoughts and action against stigma and toward God's love.
Our primary speaker will be Dr. Robert Stewart a local Christian Physician, Board Certified in General Psychiatry. Dr. Stewart will share an overview from his knowledge of over 40 years in practice. Born in Burmindi, Africa, to missionary parents with a legacy of both his grandfathers being Methodist ministers, faith is foundational to his life, marriage, family and psychiatric practice. He shares a private outpatient practice with his wife, Shari Stewart (MDiv, Pastoral Counseling). They have six children, one grandchild, and another grandchild on the way. Integrating his life experience as a son, husband, father and person of faith, along with his education at Vanderbilt (BA), UofL (MD) and Duke (Psychiarty) and his many years of experience, Dr. Stewart will offer an overview of the mental issues that plague so many in our midst. We appreciate his expertise and willingness to lead us in the coming weeks.
