Senior Adult Ministries

At Christ Church, we believe that all Christians can and should be active and productive for their entire lives. There is wisdom and joy to be gained with each passing year. We provide fellowship, fun, spiritual growth and personal enrichment for senior adults. Non-members and friends in the community who are interested in our programs are always welcome. The common thread throughout our senior adult programs is the abundance of Christ’s love that is shared.

For more information on the Senior Adult Ministries at Christ Church, contact Pam Taylor, Ministry Team Leader at (502) 693-7847, Rev. Melissa Head, Associate Pastor at 893-2201 x263 or Lisa Watkins, Inter-generational Care Coordinator at 893-2201 x245.

SAM Buddies

Are you interested in attending any of the Senior Adult Ministries functions coming up but are not sure exactly what to do, where to go, or wonder if you will know anyone there? We have the answer for you - a senior adult buddy! Please contact Lisa Watkins at 893-2201 x245 and she will have one of our team members get in touch with you to be your personal buddy for the meeting or function you wish to attend! Your buddy will meet you at the church the day of the function, answer any questions you may have, introduce you to other attendees and generally make sure you have a fantastic time!

Sewing and Quilting

The Sewing and Quilting Group meets each Tuesday from 9:30 am to 2 pm in Room 154. Are you a seamstress in need of a project? Do you need a quilt finished, pants hemmed or simple alternations? All profits are distributed between the Kentucky Methodist Children's Homes, Portland Promise Center, Wesley Manor Retirement Community and the Open Door Ministry at Fourth Avenue United Methodist. Bring in your projects and meet us on Tuesdays. No prior experience needed! We always welcome new members, so come, bring a sandwich and join in the fun and fellowship.

For more information contact Barbara Curtis at 425-8530.

An Exercise and Yoga Class meets Tuesdays and Thursdays in Room 158. Gentle yoga meets at 8:30 am and Total Fitness exercise meets 9:45 am. Total Fitness is a low-impact, full-body workout. Both classes are facilitated by a certified trainer. Drop-ins are welcome!

Congregational Care

To learn about how you can help care for our congregation, contact Rev. Melissa Head at 893-2201 x263.

Homebound Communion Service

Our Homebound Communion Service is held in spring and fall and caters to the needs of persons who need extra care in getting to church for services. This communion service is held mid-week, and includes a light lunch for all those who attend.

Our next Homebound Communion is scheduled for Wednesday, October 7, 2015 in our Sanctuary.

Visitation Ministry

A group of dedicated volunteers spends time each month visiting our home bound and nursing home congregation members, sharing God's love one person at a time.

Communion Visitation Ministry

A team of lay members take communion to those from our congregation who are home bound or in nursing homes and cannot get to church for communion.
