Serving in the Church

Serving in the church is a great opportunity to make Christ Church a welcoming place for our guests and members on Sundays and throughout the week. Many of these opportunities are appropriate for parents and children to serve together!

Internal Serving Opportunities

Students in grades 3-5 assist with worship by lighting the altar and paschal candles prior to each Sunday morning worship service and fill the baptism font with water when there is a baptism.

Altar Guild
Care for the altar as a visible and vital part of our Sunday morning worship, plus special worship services. Prepare for all communion services, clean and care for all altar linens.

Assist with hospitality for the family and visitors attending the church for a funeral; set up worship space for the funeral service and set the worship space back for Sunday morning worship after the funeral.

Guest Services Desk Receptionists
Answer phones and questions at the Memorial Hall or Gathering Hall desk one Sunday a month. Training provided.

Hospitality - Special Events
Help with receptions and other special events.

Parking Lot 
Provide parking assistance in during worship and special events.

Recycling Ministry 
Team that collects recyclables once a week within the church for recycling.

Sanctuary Care
Straighten hymnals and Bibles and pew cushions. Refill pew racks with packets of information and pens. Keep attendance books filled with blank pads.

Sound Team Members
Run audio equipment for all worship services and special events in the Sanctuary, Chapel and Fellowship Hall (when requested). Provide CD recording.

Special Events - Worship
Decorating the Sanctuary and Chapel for special worship events, including organizing for Advent and Lent special events.

Video Team Members
Operate video camera during Sunday worship. Basic video camera background, training provided.

Wedding Coordinators
Meet with the wedding couple to review Christ Church wedding policies and answer any questions they may have pertaining to their wedding worship service. Work with the officiating pastor to make sure she/he has paperwork needed and appointments are made.

Welcome worshipers and collect offering in the Sanctuary and the Chapel during worship services and special events.

Worship Captains
Sunday morning coordinating of the worship service logistics including replenishing oil in the candles, changing paraments when needed, getting acolytes and cross and banner carriers down the aisle.

Worship Attendance
Collect attendance sheets from the Sanctuary main floor and balcony and Chapel on Sundays after worship and deliver to front desk.

Adult Ministry

You love people. You love helping adults get to know a God who loves them. Adult servants may lead small groups, teach Sunday School, or plan, host and attend special events for adults.

Behind the Scenes

You’re happy doing the little things and you know that every part of the Body of Christ matters, even if you don’t get recognized publicly often. Behind the Scenes servants may prepare and run mailings, support the Accounting Department staff or help with landscape and maintenance.

Care Ministries

You want other people to see God’s love through you. You are compassionate and kind to everyone you encounter. Care and Compassion volunteers may write cards to members and visitors, greet guests at various events and assist those with special needs.

Children's Ministry

You love people. You love helping children get to know a God who loves them. Children’s servants may lead small groups, teach Sunday School, or plan, host and attend special events for children.

You love people. You love helping middle and high school students get to know a God who loves them. Middle and High School servants may lead small groups, teach Sunday School, or plan, host and attend special events for middle and high school students.

Music and Arts

You are the creative-type. You realize that God has given you talents in the arts and you want to allow others to worship God through your gift. Music and the Arts servants may sing in the choir, maintain handbells, use their photography skills on various projects and enjoy drawing and painting.
