Preschool Worship

Three and four year olds at Christ Church are introduced to a new level of worship through Preschool Worship during the 9:00 and 11:15 am services, led by Amy Ashton, Early Childhood Program Coordinator. Children in this age group are given a few minutes of free play at the beginning of each hour to unwind and fellowship.

They are then escorted to a separate worship room where they participate in songs, movement, Bible stories, and a special worship walk which allows them to process a Bible, cross, candle and offering basket to the altar table. At this age, children thrive in the combination of structure and engaging worship style.

After worship, the children return to the room where they were dropped off for pick up. If your child attends Sunday School as well as a worship service, our staff will escort your child to the proper room for each hour so that you do not have to pick up your child between services.

Sunday School

For Sunday School, preschool children are separated into their own age groups for a lesson led by the volunteer teachers. Each class is led by the same four teachers, on a rotating basis, throughout the year. That means that your child’s teachers are able to shepherd and form relationships with the children in their class on an ongoing basis. Sunday School takes place from 10:10-11:00 am.

Curriculum

Preschool is the perfect time to introduce children to a personal relationship with Jesus, and the First Look curriculum from Think Orange seeks to do just that. Through stories, engaging activities, Bible verses and video clips, we encourage our preschoolers to wonder about God and to see him as their heavenly father and friend. We want parents to be an active part of this discipleship, and First Look provides many resources to help families to discuss and enjoy their children’s spiritual development at home.

Because we believe strongly that children benefit from receiving the same lesson in multiple ways, we use the same lesson each week during preschool worship and Sunday school with different activities and learning styles each hour.

During the summer, our preschool children enjoy a fantastic, relaxed, Bible-based curriculum from Kidmo! called Lil’ K. This curriculum is a multimedia-based program that seeks to reach preschoolers with the transformational truth of God’s Word. Each week, the children experience a DVD segment, songs, crafts and consistency through this curriculum.
