Offsite Projects: 

Lighthouse Academy at Newburg – 9 am - 12 pm / 15-20 people 
Projects include: 
  • Weed & Mulch 1-3 Beds  
  • Power-wash Sidewalks 
  • Paint outside entrance to the Church Building  
  • Wash Exterior & Clean Interior of the LHA Bus  
Open Door Ministry at 4th Ave UMC - 9 am – 1 pm / 6-8 people 
  • Help cook and serve lunch. This is a good project for families with kids, ages 10 and up. 
Snacks in Sacks of Louisville -at Fern Creek UMC – 9 am – 12 pm / 10-60 people 

This is a great project to do as a family with kids ages 6 and up and adults of all ages.  We are partnering with Fern Creek United Methodist Church on this project to pack snack bags which will provide easy-to-eat, nutritious individually packaged items, including 1-2 sources of protein, and other essentials to people who are experiencing homelessness and food insecurity. Fern Creek UMC received a grant to purchase enough items to create 2,200 bags! 

  • Assemble the snack bags (8-10 items each) that will be distributed to those in need 
Portland Promise Center – 9 am – 12 pm / 10-30 people 
  • Cleaning fence rows 
  • Landscaping and spreading mulch in the park/playground outdoors and  
  • Some cleaning inside the building and touch up painting  
Lifehouse Maternity - 9 am – 12 pm / 10-20 people 
Indoor: Work on creating a Therapy Room on the second floor, allowing counselors and therapists to meet with their ladies in a private, cozy space. Work includes: 
  • Removing a built-in counter and cabinet 
  • Painting and patching the room 
  • Installing noise-absorbing baffling panels for privacy 
  • Bookcases moved to basement 
  • Furniture moved into the room from the basement 
Outdoor: Scrape and paint wheelchair ramp with weather-appropriate paint to match the front porch railing 
Wesley Manor – 9 am – 12 pm / 8-12 people 
  • Outdoor:  Various projects involving painting, repairs, and landscaping with more projects to follow. 
  • Indoor:  Projects include freshening up the resident art gallery and hosting a resident activity in your desired area (skilled nursing, assisted living, memory care) from 9 am - 12 pm
Maryhurst   - 9 am – 12 pm / 20-25 people 
  • Outdoor projects will include decorating for Halloween, light landscaping and cleaning up the garden. This is a good project for families with kids ages 10 and up.

Onsite Projects: 

CCUM Seniors – 9 am – 12 pm / 20-40 people 

Various projects at Christ Church that senior adults (or special needs) can participate in, which may include: 

  •  Pack brown paper lunch bags to share with people who are homeless. (Include a bottle of water, tissues, a granola bar, etc.) 
  •  Put together crafts in Ziploc bags for kids at KY UM Children’s Home 
  •  Tie baby blankets for Norton Children’s Hospital or Wayside Daycare 
  •  Tie larger fleece blankets for adults at The Healing Place 
Louisville Coalition for Black Maternal Health - 9 am – 12 pm / 5-15 people  

Several weeks prior to Christ Church Cares Day, CCUM is having a diaper drive!  

  • Diapers will need to be collected, sorted, and delivered to the agencies in need - good project for families with kids ages 10 and up, as well as adults of all ages. 
Pass-It-On Kids Sale Tear Down - 12:30 - 2:30 pm / 20-25 people             
  • Strong folks needed to carry the clothes racks to the basement 
  • Breaking down and cleanup 
  • Sorting all the leftover inventory that will be picked up or donated - good project for families with kids ages 12 and up and adults of all ages.
