Popular with bird watchers and cross-county runners, this park is near the Louisville Zoo, with the entrance to Joe Creason Park on the other side of Trevilian Way. Drive straight back until you reach the stop sign. The gentle, level walking path, 3/8 of a mile, invites us to make the circle three times in this pretty park in Lyndon. Enter off Lyndon Lane, continue straight to the end of the drive, park in the small lot on the left, and the walking path begins at the yellow post.

Wednesday, September 18 | Cherokee Park

One of the original parks designed by Frederick Law Olmsted, Cherokee Park provides a pastoral setting amid rolling hills, open meadows, and woodlands of the Beargrass Creek valley. Our walking trail is wide and level, sheltered by trees. Just past the newly restored bridge, where Cochran Hill Road intersects with Scenic Loop, look for a parking spot along the side of the road, where we’ll gather and start walking together.

The 1.3-mile loop trail is a level grade and circles a large fishing pond. The entrance is located across River Road from Cox’s Park.
